The original Vanquish design was well ahead of its time offering superb pattern ability in a compact airframe. This diminutive airframe could do it all in the right hands and top European pilot Donatas Pauzoulis campaigned his against much larger and more sophisticated machines to a string of wins. Three years later and the Vanquish has been released as a MKII version. The MKII is not a make over but a complete redesign. Having been in the position of owning an original Extreme Flight Vanquish it’s clear that the redesigned model has had substantial improvements made to improve its longevity. The construction now makes use of carbon fibre and composite strengtheners throughout. The undercarriage is now supplied as an aerofoiled carbon unit with a neat carbon fibre tailwheel assembly. The two piece removable wings are now joined with a carbon fibre wing tube, not aluminium. Tail surfaces will now resist warping with new geodetic construction in an aerofoiled control surface – gone are the flat plate tail surfaces. The vitally important issue of the canopies jettisoning in flight have now been addressed with a spring loaded canopy latch that provides both a secure fitment but also an easy access for battery changes.
The Vanquish MKII is now offered in fabulous new high visibility trim scheme created using quality Oracover with matching painted cowl and wheel spats. Extreme Flights trim schemes just get better every time and the MKII is quite a stunner.
What really makes the Vanquish stand out is its superb flying ability and the MKII retains the original legendry flying characteristics being fully capable of flying the most complex F3A pattern schedule. Pattern models can also make great sports aircraft and the Vanquish MKII is no different. Crank up the control surface movements and the Vanquish will also fly 3D with authority. Although the model has been designed to fly pattern on a 4S Li-Po the model can be flown very successfully on a 3S.
If you think the only 30 size electric pattern model worth having is the Angel, think again. The Vanquish is back!
The Vanquish MKII requires a minimum of a 5 channel computer radio with 4 sub micro servos such as Hitec HS65MG or TowerPro MG90S.
