Twisted Hobbys Crack Series Extra Slick 32" EPP
Twisted Hobbies Xtra Slick became an instant success when it was first launched in the USA. Finally a compact EPP airframe had arrived that offered unrivalled performance and durability. This was one of the founding aircraft that formed the 32” movement that is taking over the EPP market. Why have a slightly bigger foamie when something this size can perform so well and most importantly for such little money? Couple those factors to the ability to fly virtually anywhere and not be restricted to windless days and you have an absolute winner. Thanks to Twisted Hobbys collaboration with RC Factory for manufacturing the Twisted Xtra Slick has been reborn and it’s even better than the original. Impossible? For the customers that have already indulged in a Twisted Edge, Sbach or more recently the Crack Yak most will want to know what makes this model different. In a word – precision. The new Extra Slick can carve a pretty accurate precision flight in comparison to the other designs. The new design offers decreased coupling while increased rudder, elevator & aileron authority are very noticeable over the original. It sits somewhere between the Edge and the Crack Yak in the line-up and as everyone is discovering the Crack Yak is an EXTREME 3d machine. Don’t think the Extra Slick is any less capable, far from it and it will 3D with the best of them. But, when you want to stretch out your manoeuvres and add some accuracy which let’s face it with a 32” model would normally be difficult this is the one.
Optional Undercarriage.
All the production photos show the optional undercarriage fitted. This is NOT included in the kit and must be purchased separately. Unlike the Edge and Sbach the Extra Slick provides the undercarriage mounting point so no guess work is required. Although the undercarriage certainly enhances the appeal of the Extra Slick bear in mind that it can affect the flying performance on a small model such as this. As with all the models in this range the fitment of the undercarriage is a matter of preference, but all of these designs were created from the outset without an undercarriage so for the best performance leave it off.
Equipment
Twisted Hobbys designs are meant to be fun and low cost and that goes for the equipment required to equip it. Installation in the Extra Slick has been made as simple as possible with pre-cut servo holes, pre bevelled and hinged surfaces and tabbed construction that just slots together. You would be trying extremely hard to assemble this model incorrectly. The pre-cut servo cut-outs are perfect for TowerPro servos around which the model was designed. The Extra Slick requires a TowerPro SG91R for ailerons and two SG51R for the rudder and elevator. The cut-outs are so specific that each servo type fits perfectly in its prescribed slot – no trimming or adjustments required. To power the model the Xtra Slick was designed and developed around the Xseries 2204 motor and 10Amp esc. This is a lightweight power house and has proven to be a tough performer ideal for this potential harsh environment. This motor is considered by some to be better than some top brand products and who our we to argue. We offer this motor and matching speed controller in a total power package that also includes the required servos. This is the same package as Twisted offers for this design. Low cost components needn’t mean poor performance. Twisted and ParkAero generally offer the same components for the models we offer. This has ensured that the components we offer work extremely well and have been tested relentlessly.
Adhesives
The Extra Slick can be assembled entirely with medium cyano and kicker. However some customers prefer to use contact adhesives such as UHU Por or Welders. Both adhesives will work well with this airframe.
