Twisted Hobbys Extra Slick
The Twisted Hobbys Extra Slick is the design masterpiece of emerging and extremely talented designer Brad Calcagno of Twisted Hobbys USA. Manufactured for Twisted by Telink in the Czech Republic the Extra Slick has all the traditional Telink virtues of integrity and durability but with new flight characteristics that mimics the smaller Twisted Hobbys Xtra Slick. This translates to one of the most hardcore 3D EPP models available and possibly the wildest. The original Xtra Slick design has an amazing following in the USA and the larger Extra Slick looks as though it’s becoming another design classic from Twisted. This model truly rocks and if properly equipped will transform your view on EPP designs. The functional SFG (side force generators) are an included optional extra but we would recommend leaving them on for effortless knife edge manoeuvres and just more crazy fun. Not only does the Slick fly superbly it also looks the business with its amazing scheme created by UK’s Gary Holland.
Twisted Hobbys use of Czech manufacturers Telink ensures that the Extra Slick maintains the strength and rigidity that Telinks own designs are renowned for thanks to the generous use of EPP and carbon reinforcement. Others may copy but none can get the true Telink feel of a genuine product. The Slick follows similar construction techniques to the Telink Yak 55 (Yak instructions are included) but has different moments and wing section. The design uses the standard ply motor mount found on both the Yak and SU so the upgraded Secraft aluminium mount will also fit perfectly and enhance the looks and cooling ability of the motor tremendously. As with all Telink manufactured models the surfaces are supplied pre bevelled with formed hinge line. An accessory pack also is included containing all small hardware - pushrods, quick links etc. Control horns included are the latest upgraded Telink GRP design. Finally the black moulded horns have been banished.
To equip the Slick we would strongly suggest to keeping it light but strong and our latest Telink power set will be perfect. The new Telink 2217 motor in the power set provides more than enough power for all but most power hungry flyers. Our previous advice for fitting a larger motor for flying in more adverse conditions has now been superseded now that we have this new power house. For servos you can’t go to far wrong with the ParkAero MG65's all round. Digital lovers can opt for our ParkAero DMG65's. These offer great torque and holding power but they are certainly not essential for the airframe. We must stress that metal gear servos are essential though and a strong servo on the elevator may prove beneficial. Battery choice is straightforward with any reasonable discharge 3S Li-Po with a capacity between 1300-2250mAh perfect. The most popular size will be around the 2000mAh but smaller capacity packs will reduce the overall weight and make the model totally alive. We know Brad at Twisted has been flying the prototype with a 3S 25C 1550mAh to give you some idea.
The Twisted Hobbys Extra Slick is only available in the USA but fortunately thanks to our great relationship with Twisted we have exclusive right to sell this model in Europe. This means that more UK flyers are getting their hands on this model although stock is always limited due to our supply agreement.
