Twisted Hobbys 'Pink Cow' 32" EPP
The ‘Pink Cow’ scheme pays homage to the famous Austrian energy drinks manufacturer recognisable ‘Torro Rosso’ or ‘Red Bull’ scheme with this fun interpretation. Orientation on this design should not be a problem thanks to the bold blocks of contrasting blue/red colours on the top a bottom of the wing.
General
Our excitement levels have shot off the chart with the new EPP releases from RC Factory. This new size of flyer is going to be the hottest aircraft you will get your hands on this winter. At 0.8m / 32in these aircraft can be flown virtually anywhere indoor or outdoor and will be loved by both the highly experienced and low time flyers looking to push the boundaries of an EPP design. Built and equipped as recommended each deign should weigh around 170g ready to fly. This is the around the weight level of a number of indoor designs so you can imagine the possibilities. The real deal of these wonderful designs is the low cost equipment required to max the performance. Absolutely nothing big or fancy and all ridiculously simple for maximum fun.
These designs didn’t spring from just anywhere. Our great buddys at Twisted Hobby’s in the USA supplied the basic design to RC Factory. Twisted has extensive experience in this market with their own range but could see Europe was missing out. RC Factory was considered the most suitable manufacturer to develop Twisted design even further. With RC Factory’s huge experience they made the design their own. Anyone how keeps an eye on what’s happening modelling wise in the USA will realise that this diminutive size of airframe is becoming huge (no pun intended) with many of the established 3D/foam specialists bringing their own designs to the table. These models are being flown everywhere. Front gardens, back gardens, in the street; there doesn’t appear to be a place that someone hasn’t tried.
Construction
The new Edge has been carefully designed to minimise weight and make construction simple. No fiddly carbon reinforcement is employed just a single hardwood spar and pre angled reinforcement for a light yet stiff model. Every Edge design features interlocking construction. This has been taken to the next level and it should be impossible to assemble this model incorrectly (someone will manage to prove me wrong). Just apply your CA and you can have your new Edge constructed and ready to fly in less than three hours or even sooner if determined. All control surfaces have integrated hinge lines and one of the new features integrated into the original Twisted design on which this model range is based. All small hardware is included including carbon pushrods and micro quick links.
Power & Equipment
Equipment requirements are minimal. Any bulkhead mounted outrunner in the 50W category can be used, ideally in the 19-30g weight range that can swing an 8 or 9 inch diameter slow flyer propeller. Couple this to a 10 Amp esc and a 2S 450mAh Li-Po and the power requirements are complete. Three micro servos are required; one 9 gram servo to control the ailerons and two 6g units for the rudder and elevator. Stick to plastic geared and chop off the mounting lugs to make installation even simpler. Those worried about the single aileron should not concern themselves as an offset double servo arm to create differential is included that mounts simply and securely to your servos plastic horn and results in no more barrel rolls. The single servo not only offers weight benefits but allows the use of generally smaller 4channel receivers for even more weight loss. We would advise to keep it light and avoid over powering the model. This airframe will not benefit from twice the power or large capacity Li-Po and could risk overstressing the hardwood spar. This range has been designed for fun and you could find it becomes your favourite EPP model thanks to its durability and versatility. Whatever your RC Factory Edge becomes to you – enjoy it!
